Will make you look around for dinosaurs. Tall dark-green fronds are wide at the top and taper to the bear stems near the ground. Spreads rapidly with underground runners. The first set of leaves will dies back by mid-summer and be replace with a new set that will last into the winter picking up a bronze hue.

Care: Though they may appear delicate ferns are actually tough, adaptable plants but definitely prefer rich, humus-laden soil with consistent moisture. Ostrich ferns are native to marshy areas and creek banks.
