Thread-like foliage attractive all year but this species is valued for its golden fall color. Produces 2-3 in. clusters of small, light blue star-shaped flowers. After flowering it grows quickly to its full height and adds a billowy, finely textured, shrub-like element to the garden. In the fall it will light up the garden with its golden orange color
Care: Amsonia is native to moist woods and banks but is easy to grow in just about any moist soil in full sun to part sun. If grown in too much shade or rich soil it can become open and floppy. In either condition, the stems can be cut back to 6 to 8" after flowering to produce a fuller growth for more fall color.
