An attractive groundcover for the shade is a light green and white variegated version of Bishop's Weed usually grown for its pretty foliage. If you are looking to rapidly fill in a space beneath a tree, on a slope, or any place that nothing else will grow, this is the perfect plant for you. It can be invasive, but if it's planted in the right spot, it is beautiful. Try growing it near a shady path in a large tub where its growth can be contained.
Care: Aegopodium prefers to be grown in partial shade and is tolerant of almost any soil including those low in nutrients. Deadheading the flowers as soon as they appear will help to cut back on self-seeding. This plant prefers cool weather and grows more quickly in cooler soil temperatures. If plants look ragged by late summer, simply mow them over with a lawnmower and fresh, new growth will quickly fill in.
