Rosy-pink ball-shaped flowers atop thin, leafless stalks held well above the foliage. Leaves on this species are much wider and sword-like than other ameria though still very compact. Will bloom from mid spring into summer. Being a coastal native it can handle life along walks and drives that are treated with salt (to a degree). Good candidate for rock gardens and containers.
Care: Plant sea pinks in well-drained soil in full sun. They don't like a lot of moisture so they will also do well in rock gardens. Divide plants every few years to keep them vigorous. If the soil is too rich the plants won't bloom as well. Good winter drainage is essential to prevent rot.
