Clusters of plump navy blue buds open to large, bright blue star-shaped flowers. Compact clump with broader leaves than other amsonia but with the same bright yellow fall color.
Care: Amsonia is native to moist woods and banks but is easy to grow in just about any moist soil in full sun to part sun. If grown in too much shade or rich soil it can become open and floppy. In either condition, the stems can be cut back to 6 to 8" after flowering to produce a fuller growth for more fall color.
