One of the hardiest of the fall anemones. Soft pink flowers bloom in August (zone 6) and continue through fall. Dark geeen foliage resembles grape leaves - hence the common name.
Care: Like most Japanese anemones they prefer rich, evenly moist soil and will run considerably in this type of soil. Will tolerated heavier soil but won't flourish. In warmer areas they need protection from the hot midday sun. Dry soil is the downfall of this plant. Breaks dormancy late and spreads by creeping rhizomes so be careful cultivating in the spring.
