An old-fashion favorite whose cornflower-blue flowers will catch the eye of passersby throughout the season. It is a prolific self-seeder you'll find starts throughout the garden but I wouldn't call it invasive at all - this can be controlled with deadheading. The fuzzy leaves generally make these centaurea resistant to deer browsing.
Care: Will grow in most any soil though prefers it a little limy. Cut to the ground when the flowers are spent and the foliage fades and it will be back fresh and flowering in a few weeks. Drought tolerant and will not tolerate soggy ground in the winter.
