Ordering Information

We currently receive orders via two methods:

If you would like, you can also phone in your order to (304) 927-2115 though this is the least favorite method. We are not usually by the phone during the growing season but you will be able to record your order or leave your number and the best time to call. There are times when a crop has not filled out as expected. In these cases I will try my best to let you know so that you can make the call. What to expect:  Except for the herbs in 2" & 3" pots, we do not ship pots and soil. Pot grown plants will have most of the soil removed and bareroot plants will be just that. Your plants will be kindly wrapped and boxed to ensure a pleasant journey. Most plants will be actively growing when shipped and, if necessary for safe shipment, tops may be removed. Some plants may ship while still dormant - be patient.

Minimum Order: We have no minimum order but please note that there is a minimum shipping charge which affects the cost of your plants.

Changes & Additions: We work hard to address your needs. E-mail us with any changes or special requests and we will try our best. If you place a second order, please make us aware of that since we may be able to combine your shipments and save on the shipping costs.

Out-of stock & Substitutes:  We generally don't substitute plants but, when you are completing your order, you will have the opportunity to specify substitutes.  We will do our best to inform you of out-of-stock plants before shipping so that you can adjust your order if desired.

Guarantee:  Our plants are inspected by the West Virginia Department of Agriculture and guaranteed to be disease-free and healthy. Furthermore, your plants will be true to variety, well-rooted, and ready to grow in your garden. If you do not like what you see when you unpack your plants, please contact us right away and we will work with you to correct it. Because of the many factors involved, we cannot categorically guarantee the long-term survival of your plants.

Concerns & returns: If problems arise, let us know your concerns. We want you to be happy and will work with you to resolve any issues that arise. We have always worked from the premise that gardeners are honest, reasonable people and it has served us well. 

Surplus Sale and Fall Shipping: We often have a special sale at the end of the spring shipping season and have a limited number of varieties available for fall shipping. The best way to take advantage of this opportunity is add the site to your favorites and check back regularly.

Shipping:  We will ship by the best means - mostly the postal service or UPS.  Our shipping seasons runs from March 15th through June 15th and again August 15th through September 30th. Special shipping arrangements can be made other times of the years. We ship your plants early in the week to avoid weekend layovers.

Shipping rates:

Rates to the following western state are higher by $5.00 to cover the extra cost of shipping - AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, TX, UT, WA, WY

Tracking: Both priority mail and UPS can have tracking numbers associated with the shipment.  We will not automatically provide the tracking number. If you want to track your shipment, please e-mail us (before it ships) or add a note to your order and we will provide that number. 

Damage in shipment:  Plants become the property of the purchaser when they leave the nursery.  Claims for damage must be direct to the shipper.

Payment: Payment in US dollars is expected with the order. Orders without payment will be held until payment arrives. Our shopping cart accepts Visa, Master Card, and PayPal. Credit cards are not charged until the order is shipped. We accept personal checks and money orders. Checks will be processed when the order is received. WV orders are subject to a 6% sales tax.

Security:  All shopping cart transactions are encrypted and transmitted via Secure Socket Layers protocol (SSL) provide by our server - www.hostexcellence.com.  Your order, payment, and personal information is held on our secure server and is accessed via a secure and protected line.  This information is never sent via e-mail or other non-secure means.
